PRIVATE SCOTT BY DML

I'm cleaning some of my older figures hence the consecutive DML figures. According to the box Pvt. Scott is a member of the US army 4th infantry division. The box also indicate that the time line for the figure is 1944. During this time the division participated in the Normandy invasion, they landed on Utah beach. The 4th infantry division also saw action during the first world war, Vietnam war, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Pvt. Scott is a rifleman and carriers the standard issue M1 Garand

M1923 cartridge belt with suspenders carries ten 8round clips for the Garand.
Several gears are attached to the belt like the M1 bayonet with M7 scabbard,
M1910 canteen, entrenching tool and first aid pouch.

    His M1 with extra clips.

The rifle's charging handle can be opened.

The 8round clip fits nicely in the compartment.
    Lock and load!

    " Fix bayonet"
It is only attached in anticipation for close combat or when ammo is used up.

MICHAEL WITTMAN BY DML

Michael Wittman was one of the most successful Waffen-SS tank commander during the second world war. He was credited for taking out 138 tanks and 132 anti tank guns along with other vehicles. He was nicknamed the "Black Baron" and held the rank of hauptsturmfurer (captain), he was also a recipient of the knight's cross of the iron cross with oak leaves and swords.

The usual packaging for the DML figures.

Figure out of the box. He is wearing a black leather jacket common to tank crews and a field cap.

Sauer M38 pistol and headphones commonly used by tank commanders.

MP 40 machine pistol and stick grenades often called potato masher.

Close up of head sculpt with headphones on.
He wears an SS collar patch.

Knight's cross of the iron cross with oak leaves.
The swords to his knight's cross of the iron cross with oak leaves was presented to him on June 1944.

DML issued Michael Wittman figure with the rank of Obersturmfurer, he was later promoted as hauptsturmfurer. Maybe that is why he only had oak leaves on his knight's cross.

SERGEANT DAVE BY DML

Here is a world war two figure from my old collection. He is made by Dragon Models Ltd. The company named him Dave and he is a sergeant in the 1st infantry division. The 1st infantry division is also known as the "Big Red One", the division  has a long history of combat spanning from the first world war, second world war, Vietnam war, first Persian gulf war to the present war on terror. The figure came with only the basic gears that a combat soldier needs but still provided good detail. Despite being an older figure I still consider Dave as an impressive figure.

Standard DML ww2 figure box. Its nice and sturdy.

Sgt. Dave wearing a M1941 jacket, M1943 trousers and boots with legging.
Its been a while since i popped him out of the box.

The Big Red One's patch and his Sergeant patch.

I know that current companies make life like HS, but back then this HS is as real as it gets.
He looks too clean for a soldier, other than that he looks good.

He came with a pistol belt with hand gun ammo pouch, his bayonet, M1910 canteen, first aid pouch and M1916 holster. A standard issue M1 helmet was also provided. A clear plastic stand was also included.

The Thompson sub machine gun was commonly issued to non commission officers (NCO).
It uses .45 ACP often loaded in a 20 or 30 round stick magazine.
It was invented by John T. Thompson.

For his side arm he carried a M1911 designed by John M. Browning.

ARMY SPECIAL OPS SERGEANT BY DRAGON

Here is one of my older military figure from Dragon. He is released to commemorate the First Gulfwar's10th anniversary. But as of now he is probably celebrating the 20th anniversary of the First Gulfwar. Like all Dragon figures they were given names, this guy is "Brian".
    Special Ops Sgt. Brian

During the first gulf war the six color dessert pattern was the standard uniform worn by US troops.
It was also called chocolate chip pattern.

The Sgt. carries a M16A2 as his main weapon and a M9 side arm.

The Tactical Load Bearing Vest was commonly used during this period.
The TLBV can carry up to six M16 30 round mags and 2 fragmentation pockets (below the ammo pouch).
The vest is fastened to the belt using 10 loops.
The belt can accommodate items such as the canteen, radio pouch and butt pack.

During the first gulf war the threat of bio weapons was a major concern for troops.
Most troops have protective suit (NBC suit) and gas masks.
The Sgt. carries a mask on his hip.

SEAL TEAM 6 "STEVE" BY DRAGON

Before Hot Toys and Soldier Story became famous, Dragon was the top 1/6th scale company. When i started to collect 1/6th scale military figures Dragon was the only company releasing them (followed by BBI). Dragon figures were given names aside from their SF units. Steve was the first 1/6th scale figure that i got. He is a member of Seal team 6. This figure sparked my interest in 1/6th scale military figure collecting.

    Check him out.

    Seal Team 6 "Steve"

He is wearing OD flight suit, SOMAV vest and Pro tec helmet.

Back view of the vest. He also carries 2 water canteens and a dump pouch.

Closer view of the Pro tec helmet. He is also wearing a black balaclava to hide his identity.

He is equipped with H&K MK23 SOCOM pistol.

Dragon provided little equipment on their figures unlike the newer brands that provide tons of gears (which we collectors prefer). Luckily Steve was given a stock less MP5.

And a MP5A2 with fixed stock.
